The Salvation Army Canada – Privacy Notice and Consent
The Salvation Army collects and uses your personal information for the purpose of your participation in our Link2Feed and Pathway of Hope programs, including to assess your eligibility for support under these programs. We use the information collected to understand the needs of those we serve and to improve our services, including by contacting you to conduct surveys. Your personal information may be stored in a file retained by The Salvation Army Ministry Unit with which you are associated, may be retained on Salvation Army servers, or may be entered into the Link2Feed database via the Link2Feed client software. Salvation Army staff access the information as needed to fulfill the purposes for which it was collected.
On an as-needed basis, we may share your personal information with other agencies to provide more complete support, eliminate duplication of efforts or fulfill our commitments to those who fund our programs such as other food banks, education and employment agencies, utility companies, housing advocates, medical professionals, addictions personnel, immigration services, and faith organizations. We obey strict standards of confidentiality when collecting, using, and sharing or disclosing your personal information. We may collect the following information from you directly, through interviews, or when assisting you in completing forms or applications: contact information, date of birth, marital status, income, education, ethnicity, language spoken, disability if applicable, and length of time you have been in Canada if applicable.
Please know that:
- You have the right to receive a copy of the information about you that The Salvation Army has.
- You have the right to correct mistakes in information about you.
- You have the right to withdraw consent in relation to further collection, use and disclosure by The Salvation Army of your personal information.
Our resources and ability to serve your community depend in part on the information provided by our clients. If you have questions, concerns, or a complaint about how a Salvation Army staff member, intern or volunteer is handling your personal information, and you cannot resolve your questions or concerns with that person directly, please write to or email The Salvation Army director at the location where you are being served.
